Hi, I'm new here and am just learning about nankins.  My family and I have 12 hens and 2 guniea fowl.  My hope is to find some nankins for my 12 year old.  He's quite fond of bantams and was really taken when he saw pictures of these.
We also share our farm with 2 beef calves, 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rats and a beta fish.
I really enjoy having poultry around and hope to get to know others here as well.

Greetings from NC: I am new to the forum and to Nankins also. I raise Blacktailed white Japanese and Dominique and Cochin bantams but as yet have no Nankins. I would love to get a trio or some eggs to hatch.
I raise daylilies hence the name lilyman. Jim

Hi Jim, something tells me, your weather in NC is a heck of a lot better then mine is  Smiley
The funny part is, my birds love the snow.  I wind up sweeping and or shoveling their outside run everytime it snows.  Does that sound like I am a slave to them??
I'm also sprouting grains for them, so they have something "green" to eat.  Closest thing to pasture for this time of year.  They love it.

Hope you can get some nankins soon too.  They look like such sweet birds.

Daylilies are pretty.  Do you raise many colors?

Hello Trace & Lily Man,

Glad to have you join the forum.  Nankins are beautiful little birds.  When you add some to your poultry yard you will never get rid of them.  To say that they are friendly is a gross understatement.  You have to be careful not to step on them when you enter their coop.  They will eat out of your hand & fly up on your shoulder to see what you have brought them.  Also good broodies & good mothers.

thanks Mary Ann and Trace. I look forward to keeping Nankins. I raise about 1300 varieties of daylilies and my customers always enjoy any birds that I have. Lots of city kids have never had a chance to hold or feed a chicken.

Yes, isn't it sad that children don't know a chicken from a cow.  I think all children should be raised on or near a farm so they can appreciate where their food comes from.  Lily Man, I love daylilies.  I'll bet you hasve you hands full taking care of that many daylilies.

I am grateful that I can raise my son on our farm.  I was a city kid, who had the opportunity to go to the only high school in the 5 boroughs to have an ag program in it's school (John Bowne HS, in flushing ny) and to this day, I am still and aggie, day in and day out.  At the time, the only livestock the school had, were chickens.  So I guess I was meant to be a chicken lover.
