Colour
Male plumage: Back, neck and saddle hackles a rich orange, wing bows chestnut. Tail mian feathers black, sickles and side hangers bronze or copper, shading into black. Remainder of plumage ginger-buff throughout to the skin. Female plumage: Neck, back, wings, tail and saddle dark ginger-buff. Tail shading into black at the ends. Remainder of plumage light ginger-buff throughout to the skin. In both sexes: Beak white or horn. Eyes bright orange. Comb, face, ear-lobes and wattles bright-red. Legs blue or bluish-white, male often with pinkish stripe on outside of shank. A degree of black on inner web of wings, a smaller amount or none on the female.
Serious defects Wry or squirrel tail. Comb other than rose or single. Comb lopped or twisted or curved down at the rear. Long legs, large feet or twisted toes. White in the ear-lobes or face. Yellow legs. Even colour throughout (my highlight: cuban). White in the base of the tail. All black or buff tails in the males, tail lacking black end in the females. Visible black in the closed wing. Black striping or flecking on saddle and neck hackle, mealiness in surface, or grey undercolour.
