wind is blowing, more snow acoming but I see on the news channel that the 40's are also coming next week.  Right now I still have 8 inches of snow on the ground and more on the way.  HAHAHAHAH been using the old shavings from the poultry house for the walkway and replacing with new.  Last night I pulled an egg from the nest  Grin  I am ready for spring.......stay warm folks the ring around the sun at night is getting smaller and the earth is tilting back to its normal axis  Smiley

There is still snow up on the mountain above me but it is gonna make it into the 50's for three straight days!!!!!!! That is if the weatherman is correct  Wink I am going to try and let the birds out for a while today to scratch around a little in the sun maybe this will get them to laying a few eggs.

Angry  Well, wouldn't ya know it!  The snow here finally melted and all was rosy for a couple of days, then this past weekend we had an inch of sleet and ice!  Hanging on the fences, trees, eaves, and anything else it could hang from.  Makes walking about to chore a real fun time.

BUT  Grin Grin Grin  IT IS ONLY 23 days until SPRING!!!!!!!!

Winter is a matter of where you are even in the Northeast.
We got about 18" of snow all told since tuesday and we are east of the Hudson River--west of the Hudson some places have received 60"!!! Lots of areas without power, but we managed to dodge that bullet.  Hope you are all warm and safe.

Howard: Wow 18 inches is way more than I want to see that would be a blizzard down here in Tenn. 2-3 paralyzes everything.lol Back arond '93 we had close to that and we had no power at our house for close to two weeks so I really don't want to see that kind of again little alone 60". My hats off to you brave souls that choose to live in it though. Wink

SPRING HAS SPRUNG !!!!!!!!  and wouldn't you know, another 5 to 6 inches of snow overnight.  Boring. . .   But, things are looking up, it isn't too last long, as the warmer days are starting tomorrow, if the weather prognosticator is to be believed.

We are in the fifth day of gorgeous weather-highs in the 60's and lows in the 30's.  Good for making maple syrup and it has put a smile on everyones face man and beast alike.  The birds are even smiling and certainly loving the sun.  It is going to rain and get colder next week but winter is more or less done!  Javacock:I just saw the news a little bit ago and could'nt believe the snow your part of the country is getting right now! Thats just crazy it was near 70 here today and not a cloud in the sky. Shocked

Howard: lol my birds are loving this weather also it has really got them to laying for sure. I would love to make a trip up that way sometime for some of that fresh maple syrup I've heard nothing compares to it.

Franciscree: Sounds like you are having some nice weather out your way also.I think everyone is especially glad to see spring this year.

Yup, more snow, but at least we didn't get the worst of it.  folks to the SE part of the state got more than we did, so all is well in the state of confusion.  Last week saw temps in the mid to upper 60's, then a dab of snow, and today we are to be about 40-45, so most of this white gunk will be gone by tonight, I hope.  Garden is dug and awaiting a bit of warm weather so I can get the onions and lettuce in.  Wait for warm, warm weather for the tomatoes and cukes.  It is coming, just gotta be patient, just like raising chickens.  Put out the seed, wait, wait, wait and see what comes of it.

Monte-Our beautiful series of warm,  dry days is about to end.  Peas are planted in the garden and lots of other stuff started under lights in the cellar.  It will be a while before we get to serious gardening-out last frost is usually around Memorial Day.  It is supposed to dip into the low 20's by the weekend.
Nankin3- Maple syrup is a wonderful treat, we had some Sunday morning on french toast.  We have a few neighbors who make it and in the days when my honey bees were more successful we would trade honey for maple syrup, which he referred to as our "sweet for sweet swap."

Sadly a friend had 36 of my eggs and about 60 of his own in his incubator when the big storm hit a while back and he was without electric for 12 hours.  Not expecting very good numbers from that hatch.  Hope you all are having a better start to your breeding season.  Howard

The warm spell is over hereabouts.  Down to the teens tonight! But Spring can't be too far off now.  The winds today were in the 30 to 40 mph range from the north and no one -bird nor man enjoyed it.  Hoping your breeding season is proceeding well. I should begin to get some chicks in the next week or 10 days.  Howard
