PLENTY of rain n3!!, oh, and a little hail. We've just had the wettest November since records began here in washed out Britain.
Apart from the annual coverings on the Pennines, the N. Yorkshire moors and the Scottish Highlands, if we have snow at all, its usually around late january/ february time when winter here is at its coldest.
As a child, the winter of 1977/78 was the last real white-out I remember. the country was completely filled in, with villages cut off by 15-20 ft snow drifts. In the winter of 1963 it was even worse, with snow on the ground right into june in some places.
Now, we're lucky/unlucky if we see a fall of six inches, which may hang around for a week or two, Thats Global warming for ya!!

Four inches of snow in the Taconic Mtns of eastern New York State. Taking care of the birds gets to be a chore around now!

Lordcluck, at least in Eastern Tenn. we have had the wettest summer and fall on record so it must be a global thing with all the rain. But I sure am ready for it to dry up. I would hate to see the snows you described in 77/78 the most we have had in my memory was 2ft. and that was enough to shut everything down for darn near 10 days.lol Howard,I would imagine you get some brutal winters in that area I think I am as far north as I ever care to live maybe to visit but not to live.lol

You know you really love your animals when you have to go out in this cold to put warm water in the water containers. And you do it with a smile on your face. Especially when the silly goats make every attempt to spill thier water right behind you. Or could this just be a sign of being a little nutty? Danny

Three more inches of snow today and it is 4 degrees and windy at 9:30 PM as I write this. Chickiens are all locked up tight and we are now cozy by the wood burning stove along with the two cats who stay close to the stove most of the winter. It's a sweet life until I have to go out in the morning. Howard

Howdy All:
As I head out to do chores before going to work, there is an inch of snow, 24 degrees and no wind (something rare for winter in Kansas). AND, it is only 91 days until Spring!
I was working on the computer last evening, after chores and supper. About 9:30, I quit and got up to get some tea. I looked out the back door and there was snow! Had not been there at 8, when I sat down to the machine, but it was there then, so I just said "Well, ain't that a kicker?" and went on. Not a lot I could do about it, was there?
Hope all are well and I wish I had a wood burning stove here, instead of gas furnace. Nothing better for warm than a wood fire. Keeps you warm twice: Once when you cut the wood and again when you burn it. I figure when you tote out the ashes it warms you again, however.
More later from here in the State of Confusion, javacock

Howard, I'm suprised your birds don't migrate south for the winter and leave you. lol
Javacock, it's wierd that you can live halfway across the country and yet we can still be in the same state.lol And you are so right about the wood warming you twice it's a headache at times dealing with the wood but there is nothing better on a cold day than to to sit by a fire.
Its warmed up a little here near 40 this morning but of course its raining.lol Danny

Saame to you, Howard, and all the Forum Folks. I see I misspoke yesterday. It is not 91 days until spring. It is NOW 80 days, and still counting.
Hope the bad weather misses all of you, wherever you may be. And remember, he who drinks a fifth on the fourth may not come forth on the fifth, so be cautious in your celebration!
