Hi,
I fell in love with Nankins about 8 years ago and was about to get some, when I was made redundant. Finally got round to getting some this year and they hatched out in May. 3 Cockerals (my Ginger Ninja's) and 1 Hen (Dora).
I went at an agricultural show with a poultry tent so stuck head in (I'd tried to enter but the Agricultural Society had got snotty with me saying I needed to be a professional...) to see if there was someone was there who I could compare notes with on Nankins, I'd gone armed with pictures. Was told they where really rare and they'd never heard of anyone owning them. The best thing would be for me to enter The PC of GB National Championship Show as that was the only place I'd find them.
So I entered my birds in the show, purely to get some advise on which cockeral was best to keep for my hen.... I got a very pleasant shock instead.....
I also show and occasionally breed Pyrenean Mountain Dogs (Great Pyrenees in the USA) and I keep and breed a few quail for eggs etc.
Thanks,
Mousy.

Hi Mousy, Just over the border from you in Dorset!! admired your Nankins at the National are you showing at the Federation?
Where did your stock originate from?
Theyre certainly thin on the ground over here, would be good to meet up some time, ( maybe at the Fed?) and compare notes. my stock came from Kent, and Ive recently obtained another couple of very young birds from Devon.
Anyway, welcome along, nice to see a fellow UK west countryman on the forum!

No I'm not showing at the Federation. This was my first time showing. If the entries for the Fed closed after the national then I might have entered. I may come up as a visitor though to the Federation.
My stock came from the Wernlas Collection. They have 2 breeding lines of Nankins there. All single combed.
Thanks,
Mousy.
