Does anyone know where I can find the following book:

The Nankin Bantam: A Rare and Ancient Fowl by Mark A. Fields

The ALBC store no longer carries it.

I just did a google search on the title until I found a place that had it.  Good read.   Laureen

 Laureen,
Do you happen to remember where you found a copy of this book at? I have looked everywhere and can't find it now.
 Thanks,
Danny

Sorry, I don't.  I think it was through Amazon, though.  I loaned my copy to someone, I'll try to get it back and find publishing info.

If I were guessing I'd say the ALBC did not publish that many of them to begin with.

Just out of interest for people

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=eWsMAAAAYAAJ&ots=G1_yf2FFOa&dq=%22The%20Poultry%20Book%22&pg=PP1#v=onepage&q=&f=false

The Poultry Book is by William Bernhard Tegetmeier and was published in 1867. It discusses Nankins (pages 232 (pdf p319) mentions Rumpless Nankins, p241 (pdf p332) as an example of the older breeds of bantam, p251 (pdf p346) discussion of how a Nankin-coloured bantam could help the Cochin/Pekin Bantam, p253 (pdf p348) section of the Bantam chapter that deals with Nankins, 353 (pdf p468) Index reference for Nankins. Unfortunately Nankins don't seem to be one of the breeds covered under the standards of excellence.

The American poulterer's companion by By Caleb N. Bement and was published in 1863 p151  has a section describing the Nankin, plus a brown variation.

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=dU0CAAAAYAAJ&dq=Nankin%20Bantam&lr=&as_drrb_is=q&as_minm_is=0&as_miny_is=&as_maxm_is=0&as_maxy_is=&num=100&as_brr=0&pg=PA206#v=onepage&q=Nankin%20Bantam&f=false

Journal of horticulture, cottage gardener and country gentlemen, Volume 7 from 1864, p206 a letter describes not seeing the breed for years then describes spotting a flock in Wiltshire and gives the address. p324 another letter gives a description of what the breed should look like.

I have some more of these types of references if people are interested?

Folks:  You might also try Abes Book.  I have found many old and out of print poultry books there.  They have contacts around the world with used book stores.  I have never been disappointed in what i have received from them.  The books are as stated in the advertisement, the prices are good, and I have never had to wait more than two weeks to get what I ordered.  The longest was a British Standard from a dealer in England, and it took two weeks to arrive.  Not bad.

Oh, and it is only 39 days until Spring!!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

The Nankin book by Mark Fields is out of print.  They sold very fast.  ALBC might, in the future, have the book as a download.

That would be great if ALBC would make the book available as a download I think everyone especially in the States could benefit from reading this book.
