Hello Nankin group:

I am new to this group and I must say that I am dissapointed that there is not much discussion going on with this site.  If I am out of line I apologies, just let me know and I will keep quit.

Here are some subjects I would like to see discussed.

Why Nankins?--or--Why do you keep Nankins?
What is the current state of the breed?
What does the future look like for the breed?
Does the Nankin need any thing special as far as housing, feeding, supplements, etc
What areas need working on?
How can we as a group promote Nankins more?
What do we as a group need to do to get the web site more active?

I am sure that others have questions.  I think if we would discuss amoung ourselves that we could promote the breed better. What do you think?

I would like to see more activity here, also.  I think all your topic ideas are excellent.  I'm a new "fancier", and have never shown, so I have lots of questions too.  How about it, Nankin people, want to get this forum going?  I'll start with the first question, "Why Nankins?"    For me, I wanted sweet, loving and calm birds, and I just love the buff colors.  I also like the thought of helping to preserve an old breed.  I love that I can just pick them up (if they haven't flown up onto me first).  I don't have to chase them around saying "Please, won't you just let mommy pet you?"  The roosters are not mean, and they don't attack my niece Sara, and let me tell you, everything goes after Sara and I don't blame them.  They are such elegant little birds, and very kind natured.  The roosters take excellent care of their hens, and the hens are such good little mommies.  On top of this, they lay a good number of eggs.  What else could you want?  Any one else out there?  Laureen  (Goodells, MI)

It's all about how sweet their temperment is for me. I would have sold them last year when feed went up, and thought about it, but I would miss them.
